Career Studies Program

Welcome to Career Studies where individuals can obtain a high-quality, individualized post-secondary education that lead to social and professional networks, careers, and a bright future. Career Studies is an inclusive two-year, four-semester program that includes academic and social enrichment, vocational counseling and practical work experiences. 

The overall objectives/outcomes of the Career Studies Program are for participants with intellectual disabilities to:

  1. Experience an inclusive higher education academic and social environment. (semester 1-4)
  2. Demonstrate an increase in self-determination as evidenced by a pre/post semester self-determination scale. (semester 1- 4)
  3. Obtain National Retail Foundation Customer Service and Sales Certification by successfully passing exam. (semester 3)
  4. Obtain meaningful paid employment. This outcome is supported by completing a person centered planning process, vocational theme mapping, job coaching, experiences in career field trips, job shadowing, and practicums. (semester 1-4)
