Governor Wolf's Disaster Declaration on the Drug Addiction and Overdose Crisis in Perspective

On January 10, Governor Wolf declared the opioid epidemic a statewide disaster in Pennsylvania. A panel of professionals will discuss this disaster declaration and how it is the number one public health and safety crisis in the state. 

Speakers include: Raphael M. Barishansky, deputy secretary for Health Planning and Assessment, Pennsylvania Department of Health; Marcus Brown, director of Pennsylvania Office of Homeland Security; and Richard D. Flinn, Jr., director of the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA). This event is moderated by Dr. Alexander Siedschlag, professor and chair of homeland security and public health sciences in the college’s School of Public Affairs; and the discussant is Dr. Philip Kavanaugh, assistant professor of criminal justice in the School of Public Affairs.
