Biography
James McCormick II (1766-1814) was a son of James McCormick I, who
emigrated from Ireland and settled in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania.
James II resided in Carlisle and was appointed Justice of the Peace
for that place by Governor Thomas Mifflin. He also held the position
of Professor of Mathematics at Dickinson College, Carlisle. He married
Margaret Oliver in 1790 and had six children.
