the mail. I just heard Fanny Berghaus (1) was married to Captain McConkey
(2) at 9 last night. Nobody present. All the friends, I think, opposed
except her mother. Mary Orth Seiler (3) just told me. I would like to

1. Fanny Berghaus is thought to be the daughter of Mary W. Berghaus,
widow of Charles W. Berghaus of South Front and Mulberry. Mary Berghaus was
a sister of Elizabeth Hummel who was married to William K. Kerr, brother of
