Harrisburg Dec.[ember] 22nd '63 Tuesday

Dear Callie,

Last night for the first time I saw Jim (1) the 3rd. He is a nice fat boy. His father brought Mary [Marie] (2) from Phila. A small set of china for a sick person & a china waiter to put them on. We are all well. We are to stay in our present home another year. This morning Mr. Brady (3) at Brady's Hotel was married to Miss Stewart (4). They say she is a nice girl. I enclose you a Christmas gift. Your sister says she will send in Ellie Forster's (5) box a flannel under dress of yours, and inside of it a letter. Martie (6) got a new frock from Phila. 8 yards for ten dollars. The weather is cold and the skating Martie says is good. I have not heard from you yet about the small bill of Einstein's (7). If you said anything to me about it, I have totally forgotten-but my memory has failed so much of late that I forget what happened a month ago. I had a letter last week from Hampy.(8) He is well; & is busy making a drawing [?] of the country through which his railroad is to run about 5 miles. We have had great rain here lately, but no snow yet. Hermie (9) says he is going to send you his likeness for a Christmas gift. I wish you to be particular about your health. It is of vastly more importance than your learning. If it is necessary at any time to take medical advice, get it and I will pay - but do not take much medicine. Instead of it, take exercise in romping in company with other girls and take shorter lessons & regular hours.

We one and all wish you and all your party at Troy a pleasant happy Christmas.

Yours truly,
Herman Alricks
