Harrisburg Feb 15th '64 Monday
Dear Callie,

This morning Martie put a letter into the Office for you, but I think it is nearly a week old, as is usual with her. On Friday I received the enclosed bill from Mr. Willard. It seems to be made out differently from our understanding. He asks below an advance of $175. This would put you on the same footing with Mifs Briggs and others, and give you a right to all the advantages of the school. But I suppose it makes no great difference for I see that by your extras, it just comes to the same as Miss Brigg's with one dollar. You will see that there is a charge of $8 Cash against you last Oct which we do not understand, but you can explain that to me in you next. I thought I would send you a draft now for $180.32. This will pay off the old bill, and pay $100. on the new. You may ask Mr. Willard if that will do until April, & if not, I will send you another draft, but I have no more cash at present. The balance coming to him would be $75, which I will make arrangements to pay.

At any time, if their ruler require it strictly in advance, I enclose you a draft of $180.32. We are all well though Martie has had [undecipherable].

She is at school again. James McCormick has not been well for a week-but is out. I had a letter yesterday from Hampy dated the 6th. He was well & busy making barracks in the fort. Rock Smith is here, & is going back in about ten days or so. Dr. Harris & Kate Reily were married at India-last Thursday. It is understood here that Mr. Coverlys estate will hardly pay his debts. Fortunately his wife held on to her land and home, she got from her father.

Since writing the above, I have concluded to send you a draft for $192.82. This will pay off the old bill of $80.32 & pay $112.50 on the new. Then your extras will have to be paid hereafter, but if he would like to have the balance $-2.18 to make it up to $175. a term, now: I will make it up-but you did not start under that arrangement. I am willing to accomodate [sic] him in any way. Write-soon.

Yours Truly
Herman Alricks
